Symposium of monumenta sculptures :

In 1989, a monumental sculpture by Etienne Martin "Les terrasses de la Terre et de l'air" (The Earth and Air Terraces). was erected on the Place du 1er Mai.

Clermont-Ferrand showed a renewed interest in contemporary sculpture through its Symposium of monumental sculptures which started in 1997. Eight contemporary open air creations are displayed in various parts of the town and now belong to the Clermont-Ferrand heritage.
These works of art signed by famous international sculptors have been inspired by the history, the environment of Clermont-Ferrand or the town itself.
