Clermont-Ferrand, the European capital of Art Roman.

To assert the predominant place occupied by Clermont-Ferrand in the historical evolution of medieval art, the Tourist and Conference Office offers an exceptional showcase of Romanesque art at the Maison du Tourisme.

Place of discovery and knowledge, this area has been designed as an audiovisual information centre, and as a hub of suggestions for Romanesque trips throughout the Massif Central.

  > A PRESTIGIOUS MULTI-IMAGE SHOW
The spectacle called "Le jeu de la pierre et de la foi" (The game of stone and faith) has been designed by the European specialist Jean-Michel Mahenc from the Barbizon audiovisual workshop. This show is an exceptional way of introducing you to Romanesque Architecture in the Massif Central. On a large cinema screen, the producer has set up an opera with marvellous music and lighting effects.

  > A VIEWPOINT INDICATOR WALL
A luminescent wall map figuring the whole of the Massif Central is illustrated with a number of pictograms. On this map, you can find more than 250 sites for Romanesque architecture. Interactive points give you information about visit routes starting from Clermont-Ferrand, ideas of themes around which you can organize your visit, or with which you can further your knowledge of Romanesque architecture.

  > TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS
After the inaugural exhibition devoted to the different representations of the Virgin Mary "Vierges en Majesté", then the pictorial scenography of the roads to Saint Jacques de Compostelle and the medieval village, the 2007 exhibition is devoted to the romanesque chaptels in Auvergne.
